Amy Meyer

Amy Meyer is a performer, historian, and teacher. She has worked in Chicago at Apple Tree Theatre and TimeLine Theatre Company, and has acted professionally in Boston for almost a decade. She is a longtime member of the IRNE-award-winning theatre troupe Imaginary Beasts, in residence at the Charlestown Working Theatre.

Amy’s areas of specialty are Western circus history, gender in performance, and risk in performance. She has taught courses in acting, voice and speech, contemporary American plays, sport as performance, and circus and culture. As a practitioner, she is also interested in highly physical traditions. She does work in movement-based devised theatre, and trains in partner acrobatics, aerial silks, and flying trapeze.

She is a Doctoral Candidate at Tufts University, where her research combines gender and dance studies with theatre studies to analyze performance and culture.
