Playwright, Educator, Decent Human Being

Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder’s plays include Gee's Bend, Fresh Kills, The Flagmaker of Market Street, The Furniture of Home, White Lightning, Provenance, Looks Like Pretty, The Bone Orchard, A Requiem for August Moon, and Everything That’s Beautiful, as well as the TYA play, Georgia Mae James Unplugs America. Her plays have been produced at the Royal Court (London), Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Denver Center, Cleveland Play House, KC Rep, Northlight, the Arden, B Street Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, and Hartford Stage, among others.  Elyzabeth has received commissions from the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Denver Center, Alliance, Geva Theatre, and the Sloan Foundation.  Her most recent play, Zelda in the Backyard, will premiere at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in 2024. Elyzabeth also wrote two seasons of In Good Company, a scripted podcast produced by the New Conservatory Theatre. She is the recipient of the Osborn Award given by the American Theatre Critics Association and is the 2024 Tennessee Arts Commission Fellow.  Elyzabeth heads the playwriting program at Sewanee: The University of the South and is a Youngblood alum.  www.wilderwriting.net
