Tonderai Chiyindiko

Tonderai Chiyindiko is a South African based Zimbabwean arts writer and theatre critic. He has written for publications such as SA Creatives Magazine, Newsday Zimbabwe, Zam Magazine, New Frame, The Journalist, The Other Side of Paradise, African Theatre Magazine, Huffington Post and others.

Tonderai Chiyindiko is a professional actor, arts writer, theatre reviewer, events curator, workshop facilitator, creative industries researcher and consultant. He has worked for Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA), Alliance Francaise, Wits University - Drama for Life, University of Zululand -Department of Creative Arts, University of the Free State - Arts and Culture Office, British Council Arts - ConnectZA and the Goethe Institute - Cultural Entrepreneurship Platform.

Tonderai ​holds degrees from University of Zimbabwe and Wits University, and certificates from Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany the National Research University - Higher School of Economics, Russia.

He runs Artiate Africa, a cultural and creative industries consultancy company and has worked for clients such as Department of Sports, Arts and Culture, Norwegian Embassy of Malawi, Music Crossroads, British Council Zimbabwe, Goethe Institut Johannesburg and Culture Fund Trust of Zimbabwe.

Tonderai is a former member of the Free State Provincial Arts and Culture Council (FSPACC), a former member of the University of the Free State (UFS) Galleries Committee and a former Trustee of the National Children’s Theatre Trust.

He is a Business Coach with the South African Creative Industries Incubator (SACII) under the Arts and Culture Trust (ACT) Thuthukisani Programme and is serving on the Business and Arts South Africa (BASA) Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme - PESP 4 Cycle 1 & 2 Selection Panel.

Tonderai currently works as a Creativity and Experiential Learning Lecturer at the Boston Media House, Sandton Campus. He is also Business in the Arts Facilitator at the Sonwa Sakuba Institute for the Performing Arts located in East London, South Africa and facilitates Business of Photography sessions at the Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa.
