Yan Chen

Yan Chen will graduate with her Master’s degree in Dramaturgy and Theater Studies at the A.R.T./MXAT Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University in May 2018. As a dramaturg, she has developed work at the A.R.T. and the A.R.T. Institute, Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center, Actors’ Shakespeare Project, the Kennedy Center MFA Playwrights Workshop, Emerson Stage, and the Chinese Universities Shakespeare Festival. Her dramaturgical work has been recognized by awards from ATHE and KCACTF/LMDA. Yan is Transcultural Collaborations Editor at The Theatre Times, and her English-language writings and translations have appeared in Playbill, The Theatre Times, Texas Theatre Journal, and the A.R.T. Guide. She received her theatre education in China, the US, the UK, Russia, and Poland, including a residency at the Moscow Art Theatre School, and an Erasmus Mundus Lotus Unlimited scholarship to study at the University of Kent from the European Commission.
