What We Believe and What We’re Doing Next—
We, the Latinx Theatre Commons Steering and Advisory Committees, are in solidarity with all who demand justice not only for the recent murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and Tony McDade, but also for the countless racist-motivated deaths that have preceded them. We align ourselves with these national protests as accomplices in the fight against police brutality, which has taken the lives of so many Black Americans.
As we commit to clean our own house to address anti-blackness, we rise in solidarity with Black Lives Matter, Movement for Black Lives, Campaign Zero, and other Black-led organizations, organizing for justice as they lead the charge against racism and white supremacy.
We commit and encourage others to:

LISTEN TO BLACK PEOPLE
- Seek out the nuanced narratives emerging from trusted local community members. “Accelerationists” and other far-right groups often use progressive public protests to harm Black communities and other communities of color, and to build white supremacist support for deepening racial divisions. This is happening in the Twin Cities. You can learn more about the community response in this organizing document.
