Directors Lab West is proud to present DIRECTORS LAB WEST CONNECTS, an 8-day series of live-streamed conversations and Q&As crafted for and by theater directors and choreographers that will reflect upon, explore, and inspire paths forward in the transformed and transforming nature of live theater. Curated to reflect a wide range of topics, each session will feature speakers sharing their unique perspectives for 30 minutes, followed by a live moderated 15-minute Q&A

The virtual series will explore the theme of the upcoming 7th Annual Asian American Theater Festival & Conference (ConFest) “Kuʻu ʻĀina, Kuʻu Piko, Kuʻu Kahua - Return to the Source” in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi in May 2021, which centers the voices of Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander theater practitioners, and will feature the thriving theater community of Hawaiʻi, where Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander faces on stage are the norm, not the exception.

The Roma theater has more than a century long past with active professional theatre groups in many European countries, but unfortunately, they are still hardly known.

B Street Theatre and In the Margin come together to present the inaugural New American Theatre Festival (NATF). The NATF focuses on embracing intersectional new works as the default for the American Theatre canon by inspiring change, demanding proactive action in pursuit of justice, and welcoming a new renaissance.

This is a broad-based interdisciplinary, intercultural, and cross-sectoral exploration of climate justice within the context of theatre and performance with a focus on the Global South.

Latinx Superfriends Playwriting Hour is a 5-week Latinx-led playwriting series featuring writers/theatremakers from across the U.S. to share writing practices, experiences, and insightful anecdotes of practice, process, and inspiration, featuring Tlaloc Rivas, Alvaro Saar Rios, Christina Quintana, Georgina Escobar, and José Rivera.

We've gathered theatre artists from the AATAB community, the Boston theatre community, and friends across the country that are now virtually available, to explore a play in development by a Boston-based Asian American playwright, and experiment with how we can become even more creative storytellers through Zoom.

culturecapital is a live art project that takes the form of a collectible card game and living archive. The project is constructed from two sets of data: (1) hundreds of interviews with artists about their experiences making performance in Canada and (2) five years worth of municipal, provincial, and federal public funding data on performing arts companies. Using this information, the game strives to create a context in which players can question, understand, and celebrate how value is determined, shifted, and produced within theatre, dance, and live arts in Canada. No prior knowledge of art or games is required.

NO SUMMARY is a curated online series that invites artists of Middle Eastern and North African heritage to discuss the many layers of their identity and how it impacts their work and artistic choices.
