The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center is proud to announce its new global series, SEGAL TALKS. New York, US, and international theatre artists, curators, researchers and academics will talk daily for one hour with Segal Center’s director, Frank Hentschker, about life and art in the Time of Corona and speak about challenges, sorrows, and hopes for the new Weltzustand— the State of the World.

In the wake of ongoing racist police violence and the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and countless others, and while we continue to face the COVID-19 crisis, our society is igniting the potential to leap forward. How can you engage in the reset? How can you support a radical reimagination of what is possible? How can you push against old structures and work to rebuild?

Eight performances written by eight contemporary Romanian playwrights.

Re-Fest 2021’s theme, “Re-Circulation” uses the literal and metaphoric phenomenon of circulation to explore strategies for exchanging art, ideas, and information in unexpected ways, fostering interconnection and creativity.

A series of five performances created through a laboratory-type process and a presentation of that process by the artists who created them. The project aims to support artistic research in the Romanian theatre, through documenting and archiving different processes of creation and distributing this information to professionals and students of performative arts, as well as to the public. The performances are produced by the independent theatre Reactor, based in Cluj, Romania.
